In exactly 40 days we will have closed escrow and we will be proud new owners of a brand new house! I can’t believe it’s SO close. It seems like an eternity we’ve been discussing moving, saving, etc. But now the date is slowly approaching.
Up to this point, it has felt like it’s just a fragment of my imagination. Then I see the actual house being built, and we just saw the appraisal report, and it’s like WOW! That’s our house! Amazing. I never would have thought I would be under 30 and be a homeowner!
Clearly I have no concept of artistic design, so all the furniture, appliances, and the works are decided by DH. I got kind of nervous yesterday when we placed our order for new couches. $5000!! Custom order, so no returns. We’re basically purchasing something we haven’t seen in person… so fingers crossed that it turns out ok. Other major purchases we have to make are: bed (our old one goes in the guestroom), night stands, armoires/chests/drawers/tv stand, fridge, washer/dryer, and begrudingly, a new TV for the “man cave.” Oh, and of course items to built my walk-in closet 
All these items have a short lead-time so we’ll purchase closer to move-in date.
We get our keys on July 1, but we’re out of town June 2~4 (our one year anniversary) to go up to Napa, so we probably won’t even start moving in til the weekend after!
I We have accumulated so much crap over the years, I don’t even know where to start… throw away? keep? store? donate? I’m so not looking forward to moving.
