blast from the past!! Inspired by the latest comeback (ala ’80s):

I just realized by posting these pics that I pose in the exact same way regardless of toting a bag or not! I love the hot animal print + big belt + leggings combo. Very ’80s!

ODJ:

necklace: vintage

earrings: made by my cousin! (not pictured)

yellow tank: BCBGMAXAZRIA

giraffe-print blazer: Max Mara

belt: Diesel

leggings: American Apparel

patent bow heels: Yves Saint Laurent

tote bag: Louis Vuitton

I’ve been sporting the leggings  A LOT lately; they’re so comfortable and versatile. I remember leggings used to be so “in” back in junior high… since then I refused to wear them, but they slowly crept back into my life. First as something I’d wear under shorts or skirts, but now as something I’d wear straight up as pants. Love them!!

It’s warming up a bit this week… finally summer weather is here!

I love mixing different textured clothing… silk with corduroy for example. I think it makes an otherwise dull outfit very interesting!

silk polka dot tie top: Victoria’s Secret

pink corduroy mini skirt: Fornarina

gold and silver bangles: Amrita Singh

planet earrings (not pictured): Vivienne Westwood

pumps: Christian Louboutin

So my dF and I finally set a date for our wedding– July 3, 2010! I am so glad we set a date, it was taking forever to try to fit everyone’s schedule!! Now on to more important things, like gown/dress/shoe shopping!! =D

This past weekend was very busy, so I’m glad it turned into a slow Monday today! We went to the Great American Food and Music festival (where we got to see Guy Fieri and Bobby Flay)! I can’t say we’ll make this an annual event we’ll attend (the lines were so incredibly long…. waited 2 hours to get lunch!) but it was an experience, and I’m glad I got to sneak in a few shots of Bobby:

On Sunday I went up to Davis for my brother’s graduation. I’m so happy he finally graduated! =*)

Chilly day today. What’s going on with the weather lately? It’s JUNE for crying outloud!

white cut-out long sleeve t-shirt: Diesel

brown shimmer scarf: Urban Outfitters

animal print blazer: Max Mara

pink layered chiffon and silk skirt: BCBGMAXAZRIA

pink/red bow slingbacks: Lela Rose for Payless

paddington purse (not pictured): Chloe

Here’s a close-up of the Lela Rose for Payless slingbacks:

I absolutely LOVE the over-sized bow on these slingbacks! Lela Rose has some really cute styles for their Payless collection. They’re probably my favorite designer for the Payless designer line (I also like Abaete for Payless too). I usually shy away from cheap shoes, especially those made by Payless, Target, Walmart because they are so uncomfortable. Don’t get me wrong; I love clothing and accessories from Walmart, etc. (esp. white tanks!) but shoes are almost always a NO because of the material they use…. it’s always coarse, hard, and there’s no way to “break them in.” This seems to be the trouble with the Abaete for Payless shoes. I bought a pair a few years ago… and they’re still tough to wear (and they’re flats)!

I’m very impressed with these Lela Rose slingbacks though; they’re wide enough to fit my big feet, and there is no cramping or skin irritation. I think Payless has upped their quality! Good to know, in this economy.

My brother is graduating from college this weekend! I went shopping at Valley Fair today to buy him a graduation gift. Originally I was thinking of buying him a schedule book or a pen that he could use when interviewing, but I came across this deal at Nordstrom’s I couldn’t resist! So I ended up buying him a watch instead. I got such an amazing deal!

I hope he likes it!

I’ve had this high-slit skirt for a very long time, but I always used to wear them with high heels; it seemingly elongates my otherwise short legs :)

For a casual day out today, I tried to play down the sexiness of the high-slit by pairing it with flat boots.

ribbed wife-beater tank: Hanes

cream vest: H&M

plum and gray over-sized scarves: Urban Outfitters

brown high-slit long skirt: Bebe

suede boots: Steve Madden

altered Gypsy05 maxi

22 May

I finally had the chance to get my maxi altered.

I was very nervous about getting the alteration done… no way was I going to hem the beautiful bottom, but was worried about cutting fabric out of the bust area due to the color gradation.

Anyway, I found an amazing tailor on yelp, and she was amazing! She even saved the Gypsy05 tag and reattached it on the final dress, and I didn’t even have to ask her to do it.

As a point of reference, I am about 5’1″, and had to remove about 3 inches from the bust area. I still have to wear wedges with this dress though. I thought the dress might look too weird if I wore it with flats/flip flops because of how short I am, plus the gradation would be more noticeable if I cut out even more fabric.

(dress: Gypsy 05; wedges: Aldo)

I was digging through my closet today and rediscovered an old favorite, my Custo Barcelona sweater/shirt! Oh how I used to be OBSESSED over CB back in the day! They have such beautiful, fun, and colorful prints, and the front, back, and sleeves all have different designs! The sleeves remind me of tattoos that Yakuza gangsters/wives get, lol! I love how this one (pictured here) is made of two different materials. The torso area is cotton, and the sleeves are wool. Very cool texture.

Halter top: H&M  (the striped shirt you see poking out from the bottom)

Shirt: Custo Barcelona

Jeans: Union

Shoes: Enzo Angiolini

Purse: Gucci

Jacket: Tulle (not pictured)

One of these days I should take a close-up shot of my Gucci purse; it’s actually baby blue with a shimmery gold sheen! It’s beautiful.

turtleneck: Banana Republic

sweater dress: H&M

skirt: Victoria’s Secret

socks: Daiso

shoes: Tory Burch

I’m in love with these socks that I bought at Daiso (for $1.50!); there’s actually a hole for the heel so that the socks don’t bunch up at the feet:

They’re so cute! And they keep you warm too :)

I went Mother’s Day shopping for my mom today at Valley Fair. I bought her a box of tea (samplers) so she can see which type of tea she likes. I know she’s into black and herbal tea, but I thought a sampler would be great so she can taste a variety! I bought her a 30 pack, so I’m sure she’ll find something she likes!

I also went window shopping and found a really cute F21 dress! They only had one available in my size, and the clasp was broken :( So I had to pay the extra $6 for shipping to order it online. Too bad it’ll arrive in 5~10 days (not in time for my dinner date with dBF this weekend)!
