Amendment #1

27 Sep

I reserved the right to amend my A/W 2010 Must Buy list, so here’s my first change I’m making: different rain boots!

The DH absolutely despises the Hunter Wellies I chose back here. To some degree, I kind of agree that they aren’t the most original design… sometimes I see it and think of black rainboots that fishermen wear (or those guys from the Deadliest Catch)!

Um, yeah, this isn’t really the look I’m going for. But I really want to get a pair of black rainboots, so it stays neutral and work appropriate. I do like the fun colors like red and yellow, but I’m afraid with my looks (a la 16 year old face) and my height (5’1″) it’s going to make me look like this:

Again, not exactly a look (or impression) I’m going for as a  twenty-something year old working “professional”. I have a red wool jacket that I adore… and everytime I wear it, everyone calls me Little Red Riding Hood. So, I think it’s in my best interest to avoid colorful rain boots!

In order to make black rainboots work without me looking like some 50 year old fisherman, I need to add some cute detailing or design/patterns for some charm.

Here are some of my NEW picks for rainboots (still undecided!):

Love Moschino, chain detailed boots, $235. I saw these in this month’s issue of InStyle, and I love them! Clean and simple, but definitely an edge with the stylish chain detail.

The infamous Chanel camilla rainboots ($500+). So adorable, I love the camilla flower detailing on the boots. These come in a variety of colors too, but I love the black the most. However, there’s no way I’m going to spend that kind of cash on a pair of PVC!

Burberry Riding Rainboots, $275. One of the few rainboots I like that are made of leather (and rubber soles). Love the knot-tie detail on the upper. However, I don’t know how I feel about leather rainboots. I already have a pair of leather boots, and I don’t think I need another one.

Burberry check rainboots, $225. Cute check design, but I’m hesitant because a lot of my “winter” gear is also Burberry. I don’t want to be caught wearing my check boots, check scarf, and also carrying a check umbrella!! Add that to my trench that I’ll inevitably purchase, that’s just overkill.

So far, these are the only ones I’ve seen that I’m interested in, but I’m sure I’ll find more as the rainy season starts creeping in!

I’m in love love LOVE with this look:

I first saw it in this month’s issue of InStyle; Sarah Jessica Parker wearing a nude colored Sophie Theallet dress. It’s so beautiful! <3

Love the pairing with the Chanel tights!

in love with tights

14 Aug

I’m currently obsessing over cute, patterned tights.

I wear everything from Wolford to the generic drug store brand, depending on the mood, style, and appropriateness (I wouldn’t be able to wear a few of these below to work!!). Generally, the more expensive the tights, the better quality they are (duh), but at times I think there should be a good balance between cost and efficiency. I’m the kind of person that would snag my brand new tights within minutes of wearing them… call me clumsy (or careless?) but it REALLY pisses me off and makes me so sad when I ruin my tights!! This is why I would NEVER buy insanely expensive hosiery, such as Chanel. I would cry if I snagged them!!

With that said, here are some of my current faves, starting out with the Chanel (that I would never ever buy… not that I could afford them anyway!):

Chanel 2 tone hosiery with ankle logo ($295)

For those that are interested, they have replicas of these two-toners at Urban Outfitters for pennies!!

Another Chanel beauty:

These are really cute! I would totally rock these…. but for the $495 price tag! Ouch.

Next is this new brand that I only recently discovered from the UK, called Bebaroque. Very cute and modern, but definitely not “work-friendly”!

How awesome are these?! Totally looks like a full SUIT. Loving this. £45.

Another Bebaroque, from their Autumn line:

check out Bebaroque HERE.

Some more “tame” tights….

Wolford tights:

$78, Wolford lucky charm tights. These are definitely on my MUST HAVE list!!

Wolford “Voile” leggings, $62.

ok, these are a little different. I haven’t decided whether I like these or not… but the more I look at them, the more I think I like them. They’re definitely not your typical hosiery. I like it when traditional styles are experimented.

Had to run a bunch of errands today, so I kept it simple and casual today, with a pop of color. It is spring after all!

Camisole: Gold Hawk

Jacket: Tulle

Necklace: unbranded (bought in Japan)

Jeans: William Rast

Flats: Nike

Purse: Gucci

Shades: Chanel (not pictured)

This pic does not do the camisole justice!! The Gold Hawk cami is SO cute IRL. It’s 100% silk, and has the prettiest beading detail. Here’s a close-up:

I really love Gold Hawk camis; they’re so flowy and feminine and looks great on any type of body.
